Zelex doll heads: numbers, soft vs hard and fit

The head gives a Zelex its face, and its code tells you what the photo cannot: the line it belongs to, whether it is soft or hard and which bodies it fits. Read the code and you know which face you are ordering.

Zelex head codes: ZXE, GE, ZFE and KE

Every Zelex head has a code, and the prefix tells you the line. Body codes look different, with ZX, ZG, ZF or ZK followed by a height, so a listing that pairs ZX164G with ZXE201 is one body plus one head.

PrefixLineExampleWhat to know
ZXESLEZXE201Numbered ZXE200 to ZXE231; always soft with a movable jaw
GEInspirationGE45Hard or soft; the soft version has its own GE number
ZFEFusionZFE01ZFE01, ZFE03 and ZFE05; fixed to the body
KEK-seriesKE02KE01 to KE05; new movable jaw design

Older dealer listings sometimes write G45 for GE45; it is the same head. Suffixes add detail: in the maker’s lists, _1, _2 or -1, -2 usually mark a makeup or styling variant of one sculpt, -W1 a head in white skin tone and -Z1 an SLE head with implanted hair. A search such as “Zelex 170cm GE45” usually means the Inspiration ZG170C body with the GE45 head; the body code guide decodes the body side.

Soft head vs hard head

Each Zelex head type has its own strength, and both cost the same in the maker’s configurator. A soft head has a hinged jaw: the mouth opens, closes and holds its position. A hard head keeps the jaw fixed and, according to Zelex, gives sharper facial details and more durable makeup, and Zelex labels it the more realistic option.

Why one face has two GE numbers

Each Inspiration sculpt can carry two GE numbers, one for the hard head and one for the soft, movable-jaw version. The face sold as hard GE45 is GE94 when soft. Common pairs from Zelex’s configurator:

Hard headSame face, soft with movable jaw
GE45GE94
GE53GE95
GE07GE97
GE98GE41
GE46GE02
GE70GE03
GE76GE16
GE109GE14

When a face in the photos wins you over, note the GE number on that listing and order the same one. The soft version has slightly less sharp detail, so the hard and soft heads can look a little different in person.

Which Zelex heads fit which bodies

A spare head gives one Zelex body a second face, and Zelex sells the main pairings itself.

Any other head on a Fusion bodyNot possibleThe Fusion head is made as one piece with the body

As of October 2026 Zelex listed an Inspiration head added to an SLE body at $720 and a spare SLE head at $550, and US dealers listed separate heads at roughly $500–900. Most owners describe the neck connector on Zelex heads as one piece that cannot be replaced, so the confirmed pairings above are the ones to order. The Inspiration series guide covers the GE heads in more detail.

Torsos follow the same logic: on Zelex torsos, the head is the main thing you choose when ordering.

Implanted hair, wigs and eyebrows

A wig lets you change the look whenever you like. SLE dolls ship bald with one wig, and an extra wig cost $15 in the maker’s store as of October 2026. Implanted hair is inserted by hand, strand by strand, and looks more natural than a wig, with one fixed hairstyle.

  • SLE heads

Implanted hair on 10 SLE heads only, with a three-layer scalp. On a single SLE head it cost +$100 as of October 2026 and takes about 45 days, made to order.

  • Inspiration heads

Implant available on hard and soft heads, +$290 on a full doll in the maker’s configurator.

  • Fusion heads

Wigs only: the ultra-soft silicone cannot hold implanted hair.

  • Eyebrows

Painted or implanted on Inspiration and Fusion. Zelex advises painted brows for soft heads, and a dealer reports that soft heads come with painted brows only since April 2026.

How to care for a Zelex doll head

  1. 01

    Wash gently

Use water no hotter than 38 °C (100 °F) and a mild pH-neutral soap, and keep alcohol and solvents away from the face, as Zelex advises.

  2. 02

    Dry and powder

Pat dry rather than rub, then dust lightly with talc or plain cornstarch.

  3. 03

    Go easy on soft-head makeup

Zelex says soft heads hold makeup less well, so touch the painted areas as little as possible when cleaning.

  4. 04

    Leave the eyes alone

The eyes are movable acrylic eyeballs. Zelex advises against swapping them yourself because the eye socket can crack; spare eyes cost $15 from the maker as of October 2026.

  5. 05

Store a spare head with care

Heads ship packed separately inside the doll’s box. Keep a spare in its padding or on a soft support, with no weight pressing on the face.

Zelex lists a one-year limited warranty against manufacturing defects; wear and improper care fall outside it, so gentle care is what keeps a head looking new. Owner reports on durability are collected in the Zelex doll review.

Zelex doll heads: FAQ

What do Zelex head numbers like GE45 mean?

GE is the prefix for Inspiration heads, and the number identifies the sculpt. SLE heads use ZXE, Fusion heads ZFE and K-series heads KE. GE45 is a hard head; its soft version with a movable jaw is sold as GE94. Older dealer listings may write G45 for the same head, and suffixes like -1 or -W1 mark makeup or skin-tone variants.

Is GE94 the same as GE45?

It is the same face sculpt in a different version. GE45 is the hard head, with sharper details and more durable makeup; GE94 is the soft head with a hinged jaw. Zelex gives soft versions their own numbers, so GE95 matches GE53, GE97 matches GE07 and GE41 matches GE98. Check which number a listing shows before you order.

Which bodies do Zelex doll heads fit?

Zelex sells three pairings itself: hard or soft GE heads on Inspiration bodies, Inspiration heads on SLE bodies and spare SLE heads for SLE bodies. A dealer reports that K-series bodies take SLE and Inspiration heads, so confirm that pairing with the seller. Fusion heads are made as one piece with the body. Owners describe the neck connector as one piece, so stick to the pairings Zelex lists.

How much is a spare Zelex head?

As of October 2026, US dealers listed separate Zelex heads at roughly $500–900. In the maker’s store an SLE head cost $550 and an Inspiration head $800, or $720 when added to an SLE body. Implanted hair raises both the price and the wait: an SLE head with implant takes about 45 days to make. Prices change often.

Should I choose implanted hair on a soft head?

Choose a hard head for implanted hair. Implanted hair looks more natural than a wig, and owners report that it holds better on hard heads; on soft heads it can shed, sometimes within months. It also cannot be restyled. For a soft head with a movable jaw, a good wig keeps the look easy to change.
