What SLE means and what it is made of
SLE is the Zelex series built around a skin material Zelex developed itself. The name stands for Safe, Less-vinyl, Elastomer. Zelex describes SLE as a silicone-based material made at its own materials plant and keeps the formula private. Some owners on doll forums describe it as a soft variant of silicone.
Zelex rates SLE as medium-soft, a balance between realism and durability, and calls it a good choice for beginners. For an even softer feel, the other Zelex lines use platinum silicone, and their ultra-soft version is about 10% softer than SLE by Zelex’s figure. The comparison of all Zelex lines puts the four series side by side.
Zelex SLE 1.0 vs 2.0 vs 3.0: what changed
Zelex has improved the SLE material twice since the October 2023 launch. SLE 3.0 is the current version, and leftover SLE 1.0 dolls still sell from Zelex’s EU warehouse in 2026, so the version number on a listing tells you which generation you are buying.
| Version | Released | What changed, according to Zelex |
|---|---|---|
| SLE 1.0 | October 2023 | First version of the material, described as “soft like pudding” |
| SLE 2.0 | December 2024 | Tougher than 1.0 to fix cracking seen on some earlier dolls; softness and bounce kept the same |
| SLE 3.0 | December 2025 | 3–4 kg lighter across the line, fully soft inner layer, reinforced material for better tear resistance, boltless standing feet, more flexible joints and a new ZX170A body |
Owners who have handled more than one version say SLE 3.0 feels noticeably lighter and softer in the thighs; the joint design is the same in all three. Since April 2026 you can also order an SLE to your own spec instead of only from warehouse stock, so “custom SLE” on a listing is a real Zelex option.
Zelex SLE body sizes and weights
SLE 3.0 comes in seven bodies from 160 to 172 cm, so you can choose height and figure first and the face second. Each body has a code such as ZX164G: the number is the height with the head in centimeters, and the letter is the chest size on Zelex’s own chart. The weights below are the “Doll Net Weight” from Zelex’s body charts. Zelex does not say whether the head is included, so read them as listed weights. The guide to body codes explains the letters and the height without the head.
| Body | Height with head | SLE 2.0 weight | SLE 3.0 weight |
|---|---|---|---|
| ZX160J | 160 cm | 41.1 kg | 37.2 kg |
| ZX164G | 164 cm | 37.45 kg | 33.8 kg |
| ZX165D | 165 cm | 37 kg | 33.3 kg |
| ZX166K | 166 cm | 35.7 kg | 33.8 kg |
| ZX170A | 170 cm | New in 3.0 | 36.0 kg |
| ZX171C | 171 cm | 40.5 kg | 35.6 kg |
| ZX172E | 172 cm | 38.7 kg | 35.7 kg |
The charts back up the 3.0 weight cut. On bodies listed in both versions, SLE 3.0 is 1.9 to 4.9 kg lighter, mostly 3–4 kg, in line with Zelex’s claim. ZX153B, the shortest SLE at 153 cm, and ZX163E did not carry over to 3.0, so you will find them only among SLE 2.0 listings. SLE 3.0 comes in tan skin; some 2.0 bodies were also sold in a white tone.
Who the SLE series suits
Buyers who want it soon
Most SLE dolls sell from stock in the US, Canada, the EU and Australia. Zelex quotes 7–10 days from US stock in its own store, against two to three weeks for Inspiration.
First-time owners
Zelex calls the medium-soft SLE material a good choice for beginners, and a ready-made configuration keeps the order to a few clear decisions.
Easier to lift and move
At 33.3–37.2 kg, SLE 3.0 bodies weigh less than the older Inspiration bodies, which list 41.1 to 44.6 kg.
Budget-minded buyers
SLE is the entry point to Zelex: US dealers listed full-size SLE dolls at roughly $1,450–2,100 as of October 2026. The Zelex price guide breaks down the rest.
For full control over every detail, the Inspiration series offers 30 option categories. SLE heads are soft with a movable jaw, and if you prefer a hard head, Zelex has offered Inspiration heads for SLE bodies since April 2026. That gets you a hard head on the lower-priced SLE body.
What Zelex SLE owners praise and report
Owners on doll forums praise SLE faces, makeup and skin, and they are just as clear about the spots that need care. Zelex is upfront too: its SLE page says wear, and even tearing, is inevitable after a period of use.
What owners praise
- Faces and makeup that often look better than the product photos
- Skin that does not feel oily and needs little powder
- Joints that hold a pose well for photos
- SLE 3.0: softer and clearly lighter than 2.0
Where to take care
- SLE 2.0 hip and thigh joints, which owners call a known issue; Zelex usually replaces the body
- Finger wires that can push through the silicone
- Tears at the armpits, elbow creases and thighs, including on some SLE 3.0 dolls
- Small feet, around a US women’s 4.5 by one owner’s estimate, with soft toes that have no joints
Zelex lists a one-year limited warranty against manufacturing defects. Inspect the doll on delivery and report any problem within 24 hours with photos or video. Owners say claims go through the seller, who contacts the factory, so order from an authorized seller; the where-to-buy guide shows how to check one.
How to read a Zelex SLE listing
- 01
Check the version
Look for 2.0 or 3.0 in the title. SLE 3.0 is the lighter, softer version; a lower price may mean SLE 2.0 or EU-stock 1.0. In April 2026 Zelex announced a sale of US-stock SLE 2.0 through authorized dealers, from $1,440.
- 02
Decode the body code
ZX plus a number and a letter is a full-size SLE body; ZX plus a number from 84 to 117 is an SLE torso. The number is the height with the head.
- 03
Decode the head code
SLE heads run from ZXE200 to ZXE231. In the maker’s lists, a -W1 ending usually marks a white-tone head and -Z1 a head with implanted hair. More in the Zelex head guide.
- 04
Compare what is included
Every SLE comes bald with one wig, per Zelex. Extras in the box depend on the seller, so compare what each listing includes.
- 05
Look at the feet
SLE 3.0 stands without bolts in the soles; SLE 2.0 uses bolts. Zelex adds that no doll can stand completely unsupported.
Zelex SLE: FAQ
What does SLE stand for in Zelex SLE?
Safe, Less-vinyl, Elastomer. SLE names both the series and its material, which Zelex describes as silicone-based and makes in its own materials plant. It is a Zelex-specific material, separate from the platinum silicone used in Inspiration, Fusion and the K-series, and Zelex rates it medium-soft.
Is Zelex SLE 3.0 worth it over SLE 2.0?
Yes, if weight and feel matter to you. SLE 3.0 bodies are 3–4 kg lighter on Zelex’s charts and add a fully soft inner layer, a more tear-resistant material, boltless standing feet and more flexible joints, and owners say it feels softer. The maker’s configurator charged $200 for the 3.0 upgrade as of October 2026, so discounted 2.0 stock is the way to pay less.
How much does a Zelex SLE doll weigh?
Zelex’s body charts list full-size SLE 3.0 dolls at 33.3 to 37.2 kg, or roughly 73 to 82 lb. SLE 2.0 bodies listed between 35.7 and 41.1 kg. Zelex does not state whether the head is included in that figure, so plan lifting, moving and storage around the full listed weight.
Can I put an Inspiration head on an SLE body?
Yes, and Zelex sells this combination itself. Since April 2026 its configurator lets you choose an Inspiration head, including a hard one, for an SLE body. As of October 2026 it priced an Inspiration head added to an SLE body at $720, against $550 for an extra SLE head. That gives you a hard head and the Inspiration face range on the lower-priced SLE body.
How long does a Zelex SLE doll last?
With proper care, Zelex estimates about 2–5 years or longer. Its care routine is short: water no hotter than 38 °C (100 °F), a mild pH-neutral soap, no alcohol or solvents, then pat dry and dust lightly with talc or plain cornstarch. Give extra attention to the armpits, elbows and thighs, where owners report tears.
